By a big pickup, I mean JUMBO! I had been looking for one of these for forever. It is a 1992 Donruss Diamond Kings Jumbo George Bell card. These are 5x7 versions of the regular Diamond Kings inserts, and Donruss issued a set of these oversized versions each year from 1985-1992. The cards from 1985-1991 are very common and easy to find. Not so for the 1992 jumbos.
The 1992 Jumbo Diamond Kings were never actually released by Donruss or produced in any quantity. The story that is usually told about these are that they were given to a few salesmen as samples to show off during their sales calls. I've only ever seen a couple of versions of each card for sale, and that has come within the past couple of years for most of the cards. There has been a copy of this card for sale on eBay for the last year or so for over $200. That is a little more than I was willing to pay, but then a copy popped up as a $0.99 no reserve auction a couple of months back. I put in a high bid of just under $100, and won it for far less. In fact, I paid less for this card than most of the 2013 Topps Pink parallels (which are #/50) have gone for so far. I think I got a great deal, and I am very happy to have it in my collection!
Congrats on the pickup. I am so glad Ryno doesn't have one in this set.
