2010 Minor League Extras

Given the relative lull in major releases right now or just the fact that I've grabbed what I wanted to grab from what has come out recently, I decided to pick up what I refer to as the 'extra' minor league cards from 2010 for the Cubs last week. These are cards that are typically released in 'All Star' or 'Top Prospects' sets from the makers of minor league team sets.

As I often mention, I love minor league cards. I like seeing players, jerseys, stadiums, and other things that you don't typically see if the major league issues. And I look forward to these 'extra' types of sets each year for a number of reasons as well. First off, you never really know what is going to come out with these sets. The last few years, the Southern League (home the Double A Tennessee Smokies) has issued a Top Prospects set. I don't believe they did so this year. But we did get a surprise in the Midwest League All Star set, which has not been a staple in the past. Also, these types of sets often feature relatively attractive (or at least offbeat) designs. I really like the design of the Pacific Coast League All Stars set from this year. The other set designs fell a little bit flat for me, but like I said, you never know what you are going to get with these sets.

Below is a rundown of the Cubs from these types of sets for 2010.
